Clique Mag: 'In My Wardrobe'

After debuting her latest collection at the 2017 Adelaide Fashion Festival, Russian-born and Adelaide native Katya Komarova took the range to her hometown of Moscow to show it at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. With only seven styles in total in the collection, she still showcased 25 fresh and unique looks, which is also the idea behind this mini-editorial, ‘In My Wardrobe’.

Partnering up with local photographer Ekaterina Shipova-Bell, Katya has created a ‘how-to’ guide on making the most of your wardrobe and her new collection. “We wanted to show how few things you need to look different,” she says. “By mixing and matching a few details we brought a different mood for each look”.

The collection features timeless pieces that you can wear over and over again, and is very much about a minimalist look. This is in line with Katya’s idea of mindfulness when it come to creating clothing and focussing on slow fashion that isn’t just going to be thrown away after one season.

“The main message behind [this editorial] is that you don’t need too much in your wardrobe to refresh your look from day to day and of course you don’t need a massive list of units to launch a collection,” says Katya. “Fashion is becoming too crowded when we actually need to bring a bit more of minimalism to our life”.
