Katya Komarova was born and raised in Russia. After graduating from Moscow State University of Culture and Arts with a degree in acting, Katya began her fashion career as a model.
In 2011, Katya established her first label byMosquito creating handmade leather bags and accessories. During her study in Florence, at Accademia Riaci, where she studied Bag Design, Katya presented her handbags collection at Mercedes-Benz Russian Fashion Week in October 2012.
In 2013 Katya moved to Australia.
The brand Katya Komarova was launched in 2014, presenting limited edition capsule collections.
The designs are all about minimalism, femininity and comfort.
Katya’s collections are inspired by her Russian roots and her years spent working in the fashion industry. Now living in Australia, her collections have begun to reflect her new life.
Katya Komarova takes a responsible and considerate approach to the environment and sustainability. With an inherent love for natural materials, we mostly work with cotton and vegetable-tanned leather.
The traditional process of leather tanning prepares the material in a most natural way. Also, Katya Komarova handbags are stitch-free, which allows us produce everything locally and enables every piece of leather to be reused, if needed. We are dedicated to creating the best possible sustainable way of production and care about the life-cycle of our products.
Only love and respect for the planet will promote change and although it is early days in our pledge to sustainability, we are committed to the journey towards creating beautiful fashion but not at the cost of the earth.
